Our staff are experienced judges and organizers who ensure every tournament runs smoothly, follows official rules, and starts on time.

Generous Prize Support

We pride ourselves on offering some of the best prize pools in the UK, including exclusive promos, limited edition playmats, and generous booster pack payouts.

Dual-Location Convenience

With dedicated gaming spaces in Aberdeen and our new Edinburgh location at 79 Shandwick Place, you can easily find and book major events near you.

Exclusive Pre-order Access

Event attendees often get first priority for new set pre-orders and limited-run promotional items related to the tournament.

Trusted by the Scottish TCG Community

From hosting record-breaking Prereleases in Aberdeen to launching our new competitive season in Edinburgh this April 2026, Thistle Tavern is the preferred choice for serious TCG players. Our community values our transparent scoring, high-quality gaming environments, and the welcoming atmosphere we maintain at every special event.

In-Store Events & Booking FAQ

Do I need to book for regular weekly play nights?

No, our weekly play nights (such as MTG Commander or FAB Armory) are drop-in events. This page is specifically for booking special, one-off tournaments and competitive events that have limited capacity.

How do I find events for a specific store?

You can use the location filter on this page to quickly see all upcoming special events for either our Aberdeen flagship or our new Edinburgh store at 79 Shandwick Place.

Are tickets refundable if I cannot attend?

Refund policies can vary depending on the specific event. Generally, we offer full refunds if cancelled at least 48 hours before the event start time. Please check the individual event description for specific terms.

What should I bring to a special tournament?

You should always bring your own legal deck, appropriate gaming accessories (sleeves, dice, playmat), and your player ID for the specific game (e.g., Melee for FAB or Trainer Club for Pokémon).

Will there be events at the new Edinburgh store immediately?

Yes! Our Edinburgh store at 79 Shandwick Place opens in late April 2026, and we have a full schedule of launch events and special tournaments planned from the very first week.

All of our events are hosted at Thistle Tavern Games Hub, 395 Union Street unless otherwise stated.

Food & Drink - please feel free to bring in your own food, but do tidy up after yourself. We have a drinks fridge and would prefer drinks are purchased in store.

Parking - single yellow lines in the surrounding streets are free after 6pm. There are a few single yellow lines that are free all day on Sundays.
