Which Flesh and Blood Sets Should I Buy? [Best FaB Expansions 2025]

Currently, Flesh and Blood sports 18 expansions for you to choose from, each with its own lore, aesthetics, and unique mechanics. So, if you’re a new player, how do you know where to start?

Flesh and Blood Sets In Order

First, let’s have a look at each expansion and get a feel of the mechanics, heroes, and aesthetics involved, which can help you figure out your preferred starting deck.

Welcome to Rathe (2019)

The first one in our FaB set list is Welcome to Rathe. Back when it first came out in 2019, its release had perfectly set the tone for this game.

The overall design of the cards, as well as the unique & strategic game mechanics (such as the ‘Combat Chain’ mechanic), felt like a breath of fresh air in the world of TCGs. We were introduced to four characters:

  • Rhinar (Brute)
  • Bravo (Guardian)
  • Katsu (Ninja)
  • Dorinthea (Warrior)

Arcane Rising (2020)

Soon after, we saw the release of Arcane Rising, the very first FaB expansion.

While the first release had a classic fantasy feel, this one introduced a Steampunk aesthetic into the mix, adding four new classes to the game: Mechanologist, Ranger, Runeblade, and Wizard.

Crucible of War (2020)

Released in August 2020, ‘Crucible of War’ further helped expand existing classes by introducing universally-loved:

  • Kayo (Brute)
  • Ninja heroes Ira and Benji
  • Kassai (Brute)
  • Data Doll MKII (Mechanologist)

Not only did this expansion provide lots of new equipment for players to forge their decks with, but also introduced two brand-new classes: the Merchand and the Shapeshifter.

Monarch (2021)

The Monarch expansion is renowned for its cinematic light vs dark theme, allowing players to choose their allegiance and play as either side. We got to see new celestial-themed classes like the Illusionist and the Light Warrior, as well as darker, more demonic classes like Shadow Brute and Shadow Runeblade.

Tales of Aria (2021)

The next expansion introduced Elemental Heroes into the game, with the Elemental Guardian, Elemental Ranger, and Elemental Runeblade thrown into the mix.

The elemental theme can be easily felt throughout the entire set, with lots of new Elemental cards which could be used in combat by Elemental Heroes.

Everfest (2022)

Everfest introduced a fun, magical carnival feel to the game. Not only does each card perfectly capture the carnival atmosphere, but these new characters also introduced fresh new mechanics into the game:

  • Genis Wotchuneed (Merchant)
  • Iyslander (Elemental Wizard, Young Hero)
  • Valda Brightaxe (Guardian, Young Hero)

History Pack 1 (2022)

While new heroes and sets kept coming, Legend Story Studios decided to give their first few sets the homage they deserved. History Pack 1 contains reprinted cards from Welcome to Rathe, Arcane Rising, and Crucible of War, easily distinguished from the originals due to the added white border.

Classic Battles: Rhinar vs Dorinthea (2022)

The release of Classic Battles: Rhinar vs Dorinthea meant the addition of the very first set with two decks - the perfect way to get into Flesh and Blood with friends.

The set contains the Rhinar and Dorinthea decks from the very first Welcome to Rathe release, pitting them against each other for you and your friend to try each. The set also comes with a playmat and a 48-page booklet full of lore, making it the perfect starter product for absolute beginners.

Uprising (2022)

Can't have a fantasy world without dragons - and that's exactly what Uprising brings to the table. In this Far East inspired expansion, we got introduced to stunning dragon cards, as well as the new Draconic keyword and even the unique 'Marvels' card rarity, perfect for collectors.

Dynasty (2022)

The Asian-inspired setting from Uprising continued in Dynasty, pushing the Draconic subtype even further. We also got introduced to the highly versatile Royal Draconic Warrior Wizard Hero, Emperor Dracai of Aesir, as well as Arakni the Assassin and the Yoji Guardian.

Outsiders (2023)

Outsiders brought with it a much darker aesthetic, based on the Renaissance/Enlightenment era. Each expansion aimed to bring something new to the game, and this one is no exception. We now see a new set of special Marvel rarity cards prized by collectors, as well as the introduction of hybrid cards that can be used by multiple classes.

Dusk Till Dawn (2023)

The light vs. dark theme is back stronger than ever! In July 2023, we saw the release of the Dusk Till Dawn expansion which featured Prism the Light Illusionist as the main character. We got some incredible card art, featuring stunning biblical visuals and Angel-like beings fighting against the dark side.

Bright Lights (2023)

With the release of Bright Lights, we left the fantasy world for a bit and dove headfirst into Metrix, a super high-tech, cyberpunk-ish city. This set focused on the Mechanologist class, and was all about building and upgrading your gear during the game, a fresh approach to TCGs.

Heavy Hitters (2024)

Heavy Hitters was all about brute force and big, impactful plays, and brought back three classic classes: the Brute, Guardian, and Warrior. The core mechanic of Clash introduced a new, high-risk, high-reward gamble feel to the combat - you and your opponent would reveal the top card of your decks, and the one with the higher attack would win the clash and get a bonus.

The whole set felt like a classic fantasy brawl, with heroes vying for glory and gold, and was perfect for new players to try out.

Part the Mistveil (2024)

With Part the Mistveil, we returned to Chinese-inspired cards and lore, seeing the introduction of the Mystic talent as a mechanic, as well as Chi as a resource that lets you unlock powerful abilities.

Rosetta (2024)

If you're looking for an adventure in a fantasy forest, that's exactly what the Rosetta expansion is all about. In this expansion, the creators chose to focus on Arcane classes like the Wizard and Runeblade, introducing four new heroes as well as a roster of Elemental cards.

The Hunted (2025)

If Rosetta was all about magic and nature, The Hunted could not be more different! This expansion focuses on the Ninja, Warrior, and Assassin classes, and features "lots and lots of stabbing" (according to the creators themselves).

The new Marked mechanic added a bonus of strategy and intrigue to the game, as you could put a target on your opponent in anticipation for stronger attacks.

High Seas (2025)

The latest FaB expansion, High Seas, introduced the much-anticipated Pirate and Necromancer classes. You can either live the life of a daring pirate, searching for lost treasure and fighting sea monsters, or command a crew of the undead. The feel of this expansion is adventurous and chaotic, with a brand-new "Treasure Pack" mechanic that adds a layer of excitement and unpredictability to opening new packs.
